Discourse 69
This Do in Remembrance of Me
The Last Supper Part 1
Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover must be killed. And he sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare us the Passover, that we may eat.”
And they say unto him, “Where wilt thou that we prepare?”
And he said unto them, ”Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water ; follow him into the house where he entereth in.  And ye shall say unto the good man of the house.  ‘The Master saith unto thee , “Where is the guest chamber, where I shall eat the Passover with my disciples?’” And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.”

And they went, and found as he has said unto them: and they made ready the Passover. And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
And he said unto them, “With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer: for I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.”

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

“But, behold, the hand of him, that betrayeth me is with me on the table.  And the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he betrayed!”  And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. And he said unto them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.  But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as that doth serve. For whether is greater, he that sitteth at the meat? But I am among you as he that serveth.
“Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.  And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
And the Lord said , “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”

And he said unto him, “Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.”
And he said, “I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.”

And he said unto them, “When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything?”
And they said, “Nothing.”

Then said he unto them, “But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip, and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.  For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, ‘And he was reckoned among the transgressors’: for things concerning me have an end.”
And they said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.”
And he said unto them, “It is enough.”
                                                                Luke 22:7—38

                                                                                   Luke 22:8—12
It is custom in India to celebrate the final liberation of the great yogis.   The Christ followed Oriental custom.  The Christ Consciousness is one with Cosmic Consciousness. With this he could visualize the future things in advance. This he has proved umpteen number of times. So he sent Peter and John to a suitable place where Jesus wanted celebrate his last supper with his disciples.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.”                         Luke 22:13—18

Parallel reference:

“But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of the fruit of vine until that day when I drink it mew with you in my Father’s kingdom.”              Matthew 26:29

Jesus’ touchingly human desire to share a farewell supper with the disciples.  Jesus said:  I wanted to share the farewell supper with you consciously out my own free will. I wanted to act humanely.  I wanted to be human amongst humans before my body suffers on the Cross. I will not touch material food again till I am crucified on the Cross fulfilling the prophesy. I will not drink the grape juice until my crucifixion and resurrection. Divide the drink in  this cup among yourselves. I will resurrect soon and I shall meet you again and live happily together in our Father. After crucifixion, I will come again in flesh and blood and drink with you the fruit of the vine and the vine of wisdom pressed from my fully attained transcendence.
Jesus was divine, but he was human too. He felt the pangs of separation from his disciples.
Satan invented the temptation of wine and sensual indulgence to delude people.  Seekers of divine ecstasy are strictly prohibited from inebriating substances and sensual stimulants. They will keep the life force and consciousness bound to the body. It will make people to become easily addicted to these things.
The cup was charged with Holy Ghost Cosmic Energy vibrations.  The rites of Passover means liberation from bondage.

“I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered My covenant.  Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptions, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: And I will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.’”   Exodus 6:5—7
The Biblical account relates that it took ten devastating plagues, prophesied by Moses, to convince the Pharoah to release the Israelites. The final punishment was the sudden death of the first born son of each Egyptian household.  God had told Moses to have Israelite family, on the specified day, prepare a meal of Lamb, unleavened bread, and bitter herbs— of their homes with blood of and daub the doorway with the blood of the lamb.  “For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
“And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and thy sons for ever…..It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when He smote the Egyptians, and deliver our houses.
                                                                            Exodus 12:23—24, 27
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.                                      Luke 22:19—20

Parallel reference:
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink ye all of it; for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”                                               Matthew 26:26—28

Jesus says: “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread I give is my flesh….Whose eateth my flesh (absorbs in his own consciousness the Christ Consciousness that was fully manifested in Jesus), and drinketh my blood(become purified in the light and life of the Holy Ghost Cosmic Vibration), hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”                                                                John 6:51—54
Jesus said: Whenever you brake bread and give thanks to God and eat, celebrate it as symbol of my offering this body for your spiritual development and that of all humanity. In the cup I give to you, receive the new testament sent by God through me for your liberation. A Testament that gives a direction for which my blood is shed for you. Thereby you would find the way to liberation.   Cup symbolizes his sacrifice.  ‘Drink all the cup’ does not mean that everybody has to be crucified physically. He wanted everybody to crucify his ignorance and attachments through meditation, love, unselfishness, giving up unjustified and unwanted desires, and restlessness.
“Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but Thine, be done.”                          Luke 22:42
The shedding of Jesus’ blood on the Cross worked for the remission of sins. Certainly a master can partially or wholly remove their karma. Because of prophesied belief in Jesus as Savior, one cannot feel free to act in any way one pleases and yet be saved from the bad karma by the Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross 2020 years ago.
‘”In this manner they were highly purified and made fit to receive the omnipresent consciousness or Holy Ghost that later descended upon them, as promised to them by Jesus in Acts 1:5—8
“Ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence….ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uppermost part of the earth.”
That is, when by divine grace the apostles would become filled with the Holy Ghost, imbued with the conscious of the Holy Vibration of Spirit, they would be empowered witnesses of the Infinite Christ, experiencing and testifying from personal realization that the Christ Consciousness is present in the sphere of Cosmic Vibration, made manifest both in the spiritualized consciousness in the body (metaphorically, the holy city of Jerusalem) and in every part of the earth and universe.

Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection reveal the new teaching, “the new testament” or covenant between God and man,” which had been foretold by the prophet Jeremiah.
“And the Lord said unto Moses, ‘write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.’ And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.”
                                                                       Exodus 34:27—28
“And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, ‘Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these worlds.”                                                           Exodus 24:8
“’Behold, the days come,’ saith the Lord, ‘that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathersin the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of Egypt; which My covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them,’ saith the Lord.
“But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; after those days,’ saith the Lord,
‘I will put My law in their parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be My people.’”   Jeremiah 31:31—33
Jesus proclaimed this new covenant through his teachings, summarized in his clear declaration:
“Behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”      Luke 17:21
“’And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, “know the Lord”: for they shall all know Me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them,’ saith the Lord: for I will forgivetheir inaquity, and I will remember their sin no more.’”  Jeremiah 31:34
Jesus during the Passover feast asked the people to partake his body and his blood—the blood of the Lamb.   Revelation 7:14
“the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”   John 1:29,
who “washed us from our sins in his own blood”  Revelation 1:5
Bhagavan Srikrishna said:

Yomaamaja manaadimcha vettiloka maheswaram
Asammodas samartyeshu sarvapaapaih pramuchyate     Gita 10—3
The sadhak who realizes Me to be of no birth, and origin, he is considered to be a man of pure wisdom. He is liberated from all sins.

“But, behold, the hand of him, that betrayeth me is with me on the table.  And the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he betrayed!”  And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
                                                                           Luke 22:21—23
Parallel reference:
“He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.”
                                                                                  Matthew 26:23
The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written pf him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed!  Good work it for that man if he had never been born.”
                                                                                                  Mark  14:21
Jesus said: As prophesied in scriptures, this body (Son of man) Jesus has to go as per law of cause and effect i.e. Law of karma. But as per the same law, the betrayer has to reap the fruit (s). The betrayer will think it would have been better forhim if he had never been born. Such was his misery. Jesus was fully aware his ‘death was determined’ karmically. Because the burdwen of so many sins of his disciples.  Judas also has to suffer his karma, betrayal of Guru (Guru Droham), his attachment to materialism etc.  Paramahamsa Yogananda says that Judas in spite his Guru Droham, or cheating and disloyal to his Guru, Judas last attained in this twentieth century in India—owing to direct intercession of Jesus—through the instrumentality of one of India’s great masters.

And the Lord said , “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”                               Luke 22:24—32

Jesus perceived the weakness and reinforced good in Simon Peter. He also saw the good tendencies in Peter. He also beheld Peter’s susceptibility to mental weakness due to Satanic delusion. Due to Jesus’ intercession his Satanic delusion is removed. So after Jesus’ departure,  Peter should take the mantle.

And he said unto him, “Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.”
And he said, “I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.”                               Luke 22:33—34

Parallel reference:

Then saith Jesus unto them, “All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it ius written, ‘I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.’  But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.”
Peter answered and said unto him, “Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.”
Jesus said unto him, “Verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shall deny me thrice.”
Peter said onto him, “Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee.”  Likewise also said all the disciples.                      Matthew 26:31—35

Jesus is beyond past, present, and future. Satanic influence would work on Peter’s pasr weak tendencies. So, Jesus predicted that Peter would thrice deny him before the cock crowed.
A person’s future can be predicted by observing his character, by astrology, or in accordance with his past and present lives. However predictions arrived through intuition is invariably true.

And he said unto them, “When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything?”
And they said, “Nothing.”                                           Luke 22:35

Jesus said: The renunciants who do God’s work will be looked after by God very well even though they do not do any material work.

And he said unto them, “It is enough.”                    Luke 22:36—38

Jesus said: As long as the Christ Consciousness within me is with you, you will be protected. My impending crucifixion is coming nearer. You must be watchful. Keep at hand a travel bag and some money if you have them.  And buy a sword if you have no sword. The scriptures have foretold like that. I will be classified as an ordinary criminal.
And he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”                          Isaiah 53:12

Jesus advised absolute renunciation to advanced renunciants. Even renunciants may require material practicalities accoding to circumstances.  But they should not compromise on spiritual principles.
