49 Maruts mentioned by Sri Sri Yogiraj LahiriMahasya Maharaj
50 Maruts mentioned by Sri Sri Yogiraj LahiriMahasya Maharaj.
Aakasha is the source of shabda. Vaayu is the source of sparsha .&
shabda. Agni is the source of Roopa, sparsha .& shabda. Varuna/jal is the source of Rasa,Roopa, sparsha &
shabda. Prithvee is the source of
gandha, Rasa, Roopa, sparsha&shabda. Gandha(smell),
Rasa(taste),Roopa(form), sparsha(touch) & shabda(sound) are nothing but
different spandanas/vibrations/frequencies. OM is the source of all these
vibrations/frequencies. This OM is called Sookshma Pranashakti/subtle life
force/ MukhyaPrana.
This Sookshma Pranashakti/subtle life force i.e., OM will be manifesting as
Prana shakti after entering the human body. This life force is called as Prana,
apaana, vyaana, samaana, & Udana as per its works at different places in
the body. All these along with Mukhya
Prana/Life force is further manifested as 50 sub airs or Maruts. Marut means
air. Each Marut shall be doing a
particular function in the human body.
50 Sanskrit Aksharas (alphabets) are nothing but these 50 Maruts/airs only.
It is to be noted that by chanting the respective letters of each chakra
shall remove the adverse effects or negative energies that may occur there due to these sub airs.
When a mobile cell is dead, then we recharge the battery. The cell will
start functioning healthily. So chanting these aksharas will make the battery
to function healthily. Lahiri Mahasaya has given the functioning of each and
every air in that respective chakra(s).
Remember that all other six chakras
are unipolar chakras, no negative and positive.
Agna chakra is like a shaft. This chakra is the only bipolar chakra
having negative and positive ends. That is the reason this Agna chakra is
having two aksharas viz., ‘ह’ &‘क्ष’. But these two
aksharas are to be considered as one akshar only. That is the reason Agna
negative chakra and Agna positive chakra are not two chakras. Both together are
called Agna chakra. Hence the total Agna chakra together is having two
petals. ‘ह’ is at negative
i.e., Medulla centre through which the Cosmic energy/consciousness enters to
work in creation. The other positive end is ‘क्ष’ akshar through
which this consciousness reaches the Sahasraara chakra which is a reservoir.
That is the reason ॐ is called Mukhya Prana shakti.
Alphabet is not the equivalent word/letter for Akshara. There are no
equivalent words that express Sanskrit aksharas in English. So they are
mentioned as such.
Moolaadhara-4, Swadhistana-6, Manipura-10, Anahata-12, Vishuddha-16, &
Agnachakra or Kootastha- 2 Aksharas. Total 50 Aksharas. OM is the main Akshara.
So total 51 Aksharas, we can say.
So we can vibrate that Chakra in centre and around by chanting those many
times of those aksharas of that chakra and centre syllable of that chakra.
For ex: Mooladhara chakra is having व,श, ष, स four
aksharas. The centre syllable is लं. So chant लं Four
times, plus, व,श, ष, स four
times.
Sookshma Pranashakti/subtle life force/Mukhya Prana is having consciousness
and energy both. It enters through Medulla centre and through KOOTASTHA, the
place between eyebrows in the forehead, reaches Sahasrara chakra. So in a way
Sahasrarachakra is the reservoir of Cosmic energy. From there this energy gets
redistributed through Kootastha/Agna+, Agna-/Medullacentre, Vishudha, Anahata,
Manipura, Swadhistana, & Mooladhaara, and from there exit out.
Each and every sub air/every Akshar(alphabet) is having assigned a
function. They are distributed through Kootastha/Agna+, Agna-/Medulla centre,
Vishudha, Anahata, Manipura, Swadhistana, & Mooladhaara. The energy so
received in these nerve centres of chakras is further redistributed to different
organs from these centres of chakras.
The sadhak who has become victorious over sleep i.e., Maya can only
understand that Parabrahman is Everything, animated or inanimated.
MAHESWARASOOTRAANI:
Ayiun riluk e oy ai och hayavaraat lan nyamannanam jabhagadadas khaphacha
tta dav kapay
With these sounds vowels (Achchus) and consonants (Hallus) and compounds (samyuktasharas)
of vowels and consonants are formed.
The subtle life force is having energy and consciousness both. Its origin is Sahasraara chakra.
There are 49 upa vaayus or sub airs whose source is subtle life force.
Every sub air is having its own respective peculiar duty. These duties are
distributed through Agna chakra to Visuddha, Anaahata, Manipura, Swadhistaana,
and Moolaadhaara, from these chakras to the nerve centres, and then to
different organs.
49 Maruths:
Adityaanaam aham Vishnur
Jyothishaam Ravir Ansuman
Mareechir marutham asmi
Nakshatraanaam Aham Sasi
Gita 10—21
Among the Adityas (12 effulgent beings), I am Vishnu; among luminaries, I
am the radiating Sun; among the Maruths (49 wind Gods), I am Marichi; among
heavenly bodies, I am the Moon.

These 49 sub airs or upavayus are divided into seven sections. These airs
are existing within and without. That is the reason Cosmos, mind, and body are
correlated.
In Kriyayoga sadhana, the sadhak will
redirect the outgoing life force through the chakras to Kootastha, the
place between the eye brows.. He will transform the head into a powerful
magnet. He will be able to concentrate life force in Pineal gland, Medulla
oblongata, and Cerebrum.
Different atoms united together to be formed as a worm, bird, animal, and
or man. In fact life force only is
manifesting in all these living beings in different ways. This way the life that is expressed in a man
for his survival is known as chief life force or Mukhya praanashakti.
This mukhya Pranashakti or chief life force shall enter along with Jeevatma
or soul into the yoni during cohabitation or sex. This life force shall remain
with that Praani or living being through out his/her life as per Karma. The
existence of that Praani or living being depends upon food, and life
force. Not only that this mukhya
Pranashakti shall enter through medulla into Cerebrum as Cosmic consciousness
from Cosmos and remains deposited. From there it is redistributed to different
Chakras/Plexus as per their respective need(s).
This life force shall get or be christened with different name(s) as per
the function/functioning.
Five Pranas:
Prana(Crystallization),
Apana (Elimination),
Vyaana (Circulation),
Samana (Assimilation), and
Udana (Metabalization)
Five airs:
Pranavayu protects
decay of body. In Crystalization Pranavayu helps for all manifestations.
Vyanavayu protects
the body from anaemia, and low and high blood pressures. In circulation it
circulates all proteins and required nutriens through blood stream.
Samanavayu protects
the body from weak digestion. In assimilation it helps in digesting proteins
and their distribution. It also helps in
creation of new cells in place of dead cells.
Udaanavayu: The
organs, muscles, tandons, and membrenes
etc. should not grow more than required. Udaanavayu protects this. For
growth of hair, membranes, etc., several
different kinds of cells and their variety of
equations are needed. This is called metabolizm. Udaanavayu helps in metabolizm.
Apanavayu protects
the body from the growth of toxins, Gastric problems, tumors, the growth of
Cancer cells and piles problems. In elimination it removes all wastes in the
body.
Praana
and Apaana are two important electricities in our body.
Apana
electricity: Its passage is from
Kootastha- Medulla centre-vishuddha- Anahata-Manipura-Swadhistana-Mooladhara-
ass hole and out. This is unsteady. It will make man confined to senses i.e., it
makes man sense bound.
Prana electricity: Its passage is from
ass hole--Mooladhara-Swadhistana--Manipura-- Anahata--vishuddha-- Medulla
centre - Kootastha-. It is peace oriented.
It will make the concentration of man united with Prabrahman during deep sleep
and intensive meditation.
So one electricity, Apana electricity, makes man sense bound. Another electricity, Prana
electricity, makes man to within i.e., Anatarmukh. If sadhak can go within then
uniting with Parabrahman will become easy.
This is called as Kriyayoga.
When life force exits through Kootastha-ass hole, and
while carrying/taking information to and fro from cells, membranes, organs, and
Brain, for the nerves in use, and for
mental business, quite a lot of energy is spent. Then so many wastes that come
out during these processes, shall be left in the blood. CO2 is one amongst those wastes. That corrupted blood should be cleansed
immediately failing which physical death is inevitable. The spent energy is to be replenished for
which this life force is a must.
Because of the mutual opposite pulls of Praana and Apaana
electricities, the breathing process is done.
When life force is taken into the lungs, then the oxygen in the life
force shall remove or oxidize (co2) in the blood immediately.
This is called breathing process. It
will take longer time to cleanse the solids and liquids in the stomach. Again here also the cleansed energy is pumped
into the cells is life force only. This
cleansed energy shall be replenishing the energy in all the chakras, Kootastha,
and Cerebrum. The remaining energy shall be carried to all the body parts.
There these five electricities shall be utilizing that energy in a required
manner.
The sadhak who has become victorious over sleep i.e., Maya can only
understand that Parabrahman is Everything, animated or inanimated.
Here the aksharas/letters/alphabetes in each and chakra is given. The
centre letter is not in any way related to these letters. It is a vibratory root word.
The sounds vowels are called Aksharas/ achchus. The
sounds consonants are called Hallus/vyanjanas. The sounds i.e., the
combi -nation of vowels and consonants are called samyuktaksharas.
There are no equivalent alphabets in English that can express Sanskrit
letters correctly. Hence only Sanskrit aksharas are given as it is.
Agna chakra—This chakra is vibrated with ‘ha & ksha’ (ह, क्ष,) 2 aksharas on both sides. Centre vibratory root word letter
is OM (ॐ)
for this Agna chakra.
Visuddha chakra— This chakra is vibrated with 16 Aksharas. Aa, aaa, I, u,
ooo, aru, arooo, alu, alooo, ye, ai, o, aou, am aha.- Udaanavaayuvu.
अ, आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ऋ, ऋू, अलु, अलू, ए, ऐ, ओ, औ, अं, अः
Centre vibratory
samyuktakshara/compound letter or root word letter is HAM (‘हं’) for
this Visuddha chakra.
Anahata chakra—12 aksharas- ka, kha, ga, gha, inj, cha, chha, ini, ta, tha, (क, ख, ग, घ, ङ, च, छ, ज, झ, ञ, ट, ठ) -- Praanavaayuvu.
The Centre vibratory samyuktakshara/ compound
letter or root word letter is YAM (‘यं’) for
this Anahata chakra.
Manipurachakra—10 aksharas—da, dha, ana, ta, tha, da, dha, na, pa
fa—samaanavaayuvu.
ड, ढ, ण, त, थ, द, ध, न, प, फ,
The Centre vibratory samyuktakshara/ compound
letter or root word letter is RAM (‘रं’) for this Manipura chakra.
Swadhisthaana chakra—6 aksharas—ba,
bha, ma, ya, ra, la, --vyaanavaayuvu
ब, भ, म, य, र, ल,
The Centre vibratory samyuktakshara/ compound
letter or root word letter is VAM (‘वं’) for this Swadhisthaana chakra.
Moolaadhaara chakra—4 Aksharas—va,
sa, sha, sa (व,
श,
ष,
स) —apaanavaayuvu.
The Centre vibratory samyuktakshara/ compound
letter or root word letter is LAM (‘लं’) for this Moolaadhaara chakra.
In Agna chakra this
mukhyaprana is manifested as OM. That is
the reason in Hindus during Aksharabhyasa ceremony i.e., at the start of
education the child is asked to chant the Akshar OM. For easy understanding I
had given below in detail about these Aksharas.
50 sub airs manifests 50 different types of These vibrations.
The Centre vibratory syllable or root
word letter is ॐ (OM) in Agna + chakra or
Kootastha.
The Centre vibratory samyuktakshara/ compound
letter or root word letter is हं (HAM) in Visuddha chakra.
The
vibrations/Aksharas in these respective chakras are independent of each other.
The Centre vibratory samyuktakshara/ compound
letter(s) in Anahata (‘यं’),
Manipura (‘रं),
Swadhistaana (‘वं’), &
Moolaadhaara (‘लं’) chakras
that cause vibrations are not independent. They
are interdependent.
Moolaadhara
swadhistaana & Manipura chakras are Brahma Granthi area.
Manipura Anaahata
& Vishuddha are Rudragranthi area.
Vishuddha Aagna
& Sahasraara chakra are Vishnu granthi area.
The awakening of
Kundalinee is to cross Brahma Granthi & Rudragranthi areas. Then only
uniting with God is feasible. When the awakened Kundalinee touches Visuddha
chakra, then the Sadhak can escape from the pulls of lower chakras. As such
till the Kundalinee crosses Anahata chakra, the sadhak should be very cautious
in his meditation. The sadhana should be intense and should see that nothing
should interrupt or obstruct his sadhana.
Sri Sri Yogananda Swamiji has mentioned about 49 Maruths given by Yogiraj Sri Sri Lahiri Mahasaya in
God talks with Arjuna. This was given in a diagram.
It is written in Sanskrit/ Bengali phrases. I tried to transliterate the

Whatever Alphabets(Aksharaas) are there in SIX chakras all will be together
exist in Sahasraara Chakra.
Now the function of Vayu (Air) or Maruth exists in each Chakra (Plexus) is
given individually:
All these aksharas in all these chakras together will be existing in
Sahasrara chakra. Here Akshara means vibration(s). All vibrations together
become Sookshma Pranashakti or Mukhya Prana shakti or Chief life force.
Now I tried to explain those Aksharas. That is I try my level best to
explain the functionary vibrations of those Aksharas/sub airs. I request the
readers to bless me in my this humble endeavour.
A) Agna (Sookshma Pranashakti):
Agna chakra is Pravaha praana. It is replica or represents Shri KrishnaTatwa
or God in Creation. Its daughter is
Vishuddha chakra. Vishuddha chakra is
Parivaha Prana. It is replica of Akasha tatwa i.e., Shabda or Sound.
Anahata chakra is Avaha Prana. Anahata chakra is the daughter of Vishuddha
chakra. It is replica of Vayu or Sparsha(Touch) tatwa. Hence it represents
both Sabda(sound), & Sparsha(Touch).
Manipura chakra is Udwaha Prana. Manipura chakra is the daughter of Anahata chakra. It is replica of Agni or
Roopa(Form) tatwa. Hence it represents
Sabda(sound), Sparsha(Touch) &
Roopa(Form). Swadhistana chakra
is Vivaha Prana. Swadhistana chakra is the daughter of Manipura chakra. It is replica of Varuna/Jala or Rasa(taste) tatwa. Hence it
represents Sabda(sound), Sparsha (Touch)
Roopa(Form), & Rasa(taste) tatwas. Mooladhara chakra is the daughter
of Swadhistana chakra. Mooladhara is
replica of Prithvee or Gandha(smell) tatwa. Hence it represents Sabda(sound), Sparsha(Touch) Roopa (Form),
Rasa(taste) & Gandha(smell) tatwas.
1)Pravaha Swaasini
taana mahaabal (ॐ) = ॐ, subtle life force, is the source of
all Prana energies. It is known by Pravaha Swaasini.
ॐ
shall vibrate Agna chakra. This Agna chakra has two petals. The sadhak can
vibrate the centre of this Agna chakra on both sides by uttering/chanting
centre vibratory syllable ॐ and these two ह(HA)
& क्ष (KSHA)
aksharas loudly, at least two times. By
this the mukhya Prana shakti or subtle life force will be received by other
Chakras viz., Visuddha, Anahata, Manipura, Swadhistana, & Mooladhara. Kundalinee will be
awakened. Health and the attainment of
the kingdom of God will be easier.
B)
Visuddha chakra: (Udaanavayu
is the place of this vayu). The organs, muscles, tandons, and membrenes etc. should not grow more than required.
Udaanavayu protects this. For growth of hair, membranes, etc., several
different kinds of cells and their variety of equations are needed. This is
called Metabalization. Udaanavayu helps in metabolism).
Agna chakra is Pravaha praana. It is replica or represents Shri
KrishnaTatwa or God in Creation. Its
daughter is Vishuddha chakra. Vishuddha chakra is Parivaha Prana. It is replica of Akasha tatwa i.e., Shabda or
Sound. Anahata chakra is Avaha Prana. Anahata chakra is the daughter of
Vishuddha chakra. It is replica of Vayu or Sparsha(Touch) tatwa. Hence it
represents both Sabda(sound), &
Sparsha (Touch). Manipura chakra is Udwaha Prana. Manipura chakra is the
daughter of Anahata chakra. It is
replica of Agni or Roopa(Form) tatwa. Hence it represents Sabda(sound), Sparsha (Touch) & Roopa(Form). Swadhistana chakra is Vivaha Prana. Swadhistana chakra is
the daughter of Manipura chakra. It is
replica of Varuna/Jala or Rasa(taste) tatwa. Hence it represents Sabda (sound), Sparsha(Touch) Roopa(Form),
& Rasa(taste) tatwas. Mooladhara chakra is the daughter of Swadhistana
chakra. Mooladhara is replica of Prithvee or Gandha(smell) tatwa. Hence it
represents Sabda(sound), Sparsha (Touch) Roopa(Form), Rasa(taste) & Gandha (smell)
tatwas.
The centre of Vishuddha chakra is vibrated with हं(HAM).
Udaanavayu is the place of Vishuddha chakra. So all vibrations here are of
Udaanavayu. It is called Parivaha Prana
way or Udaanavayu maarg.
After the fall of Physical body, sookshma(subtle), Karana (Causal), &
Karmas are carried away to ‘Vayu Mandal’ by this Udaanavaayu only.
Parivaha Prana and Pravaaha shwaasini
both interact with each other. All
programmes in a computer are independent of each other. However they must touch
CPU and then they do their programmes. Likewise all airs/vayus i.e., Praana,
Apaana, Vyaana, samaana, udaana, will interact with these Pravaaha shwaasini.
Vishuddha chakra is having 16 petals.
अ, आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ऋ, ऋू, अलु, अलू, ए, ऐ, ओ, औ, अं, अः
The sadhak can
vibrate the centre of this Vishuddha chakra and
on all sides by uttering/chanting centre vibratory syllable हं and these
अ,
आ,
इ,
ई,
उ,
ऊ,
ऋ,
ऋू,
अलु, अलू, ए, ऐ, ओ, औ, अं, अः aksharas
loudly, at least 16 times. By this the
mukhya Prana shakti or subtle life force will be received by other Chakras
viz., Visuddha, Anahata, Manipura, Swadhistana, & Mooladhara. Kundalinee will be
awakened. Health and the attainment of
the kingdom of God will be easier.
B)Visuddha:
2)Parivaha vihaga
uddeeyaana rithavaaha(अ)= The vibrations of Udaanavayu around
Vishuddha chakra is of 16 types. Sometimes it vibrates by itself, and at some
other times it may vibrate by interacting with other airs/vayus. Parivaha means
way/maarg. Parivaha prana is Udaanavayu.
But these 16 types of udaanavayu vibrations will interact with Mukhya prana
i.e., Pravaha swasini. The अ akshara
chanting in this chakra causes a Udanavayu vibration like a flying bird that
unite the sadhak with Paramatma.
3) Parivaha sapthaswara shabdasthithi (आ)= The आ akshara chanting in
this chakra causes a Udanavayu vibration of Indian Music that is composed of seven swaras or sapta swaras.
4) Parivaha praana nimeelana bahirgamana thrisakra (इ) = This इ akshara
chanting in this chakra causes a Udaanavaayu vibration that can control the outgoing mind which is of three Gunas viz.,
Satwa(+), Rajo (Neutral), & Tamo(–).
5) Paraavaha
maathariswaa anu satyajith (ई) = Paraavaha means gradually. This ई akshara
chanting in this chakra causes a Udaanavaayu vibration that can be triumphant over truth.
6) Paraavaha Jagath praana brahmaritha (उ) = This उ akshara chanting in
this chakra causes a Udaanavaayu vibration that can
attain Brahman.

vibrating syllable of Anahata chakra.
Pranavayu protects
decay of body. In Crystallization Pranavayu helps for all manifestations.
So the works related
to anahata chakra, i.e., heart related organs & works, will be helped/ coordinated
by this Vyana vayu(Circulation). So this
inter action is the boon given by Parabrahman to man.
‘हं’ is the
syllable that vibrates the centre of Vishuddha chakra. (The
organs, muscles, tandons, and membrenes
etc. should not grow more than required. Udaanavayu protects this. For
growth of hair, membranes, etc., several

joining ह
akshar from Agna chakra, and ‘अं’ from
Vishuddha, the compound (Samyuktakshara) akshara ‘‘हं’
will
be formed. This will be centre vibrating syllable of Vishudda chakra.
Udana vayu is the
place of Vishuddha chakra. So the works related to Vishuddha chakra, i.e.,
throat related organs & works, will be helped /coordinated by this Mukhya Prana.
So this inter action is the boon given by Parabrahman to man.
