Bible Discourse 44 “The Signs of the Times” Jesus’ works and words in Testimony of His Special Dispensation

Discourse 44
“The Signs of the Times”
Jesus’ works and words in Testimony of His Special Dispensation
Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, “Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.”
But he answered and said unto them, “Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?  For God commanded, saying, ‘Honour thy father and mother”: and, ;He that curseth father and mother, let him die the death.’  But ye say, ‘Whosoever shall say to his father and mother, “It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightiest be profited by me; and honour not his father or mother, he shall be free.’  Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
“Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, ‘This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoureth Me with ntheir lips; but their heart is far from Me. But in vain they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.’”
And he called the multitude, and said unto them, “Hear, and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Then came his disciples, and said unto him, “knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?”
But he answered and said, “Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
Then answered Peter and said unto him, “Declare unto us this parable.”
And Jesus said, “Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand, that whosoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?  But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.  And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts coasts, and cried unto him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.”  But he answered not a word.  And his disciples came and besought him, saying, “Send her away; for she cried after us.”  But he answered and said, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Then came she and worshipped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
But he answered and said, “It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.”
And she said, “Truth Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, “O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.”  And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
                                                                   Matthew 15:1—28
And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coast of the Decapolis.  And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto heaven, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
And he charged them that they should tell no man: but more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published; and were beyond measure astonished, saying, “He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.”
Mark 7:31—37

And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.  And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.”
And his disciples say unto him, “Whence should we so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?”
And Jesus saith unto them, “How many loaves have ye?”  And they said, “Seven, and a few little fishes.”  And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
And he took the seven loaves and fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.  And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that left seven baskets full. And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts o0f Magdala. The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
He answered and said unto them, “When it is evening, ye say, ‘It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.’  And in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering.’  O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.”  And he left them, and departed.
And when his disciples come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.  Then Jesus said unto them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the sadducees.”  And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, “O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? Do ye not understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?  Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? How is that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?”
Then understand they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
                                                                    Matthew 15:29—16:12
And he cometh to Bethsaida: and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.  And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of town, and when he spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.  And he looked up, and said, “ I see men as trees, walking.”
After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.  And he sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.”                                                          Mark 8:22—26
But in vain they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.’”                                                     Matthew 15:1—9

Parallel reference:
Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.  And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.  For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands, oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.  And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not.  And many of the things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brazen vessels, and of tables.
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, “Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?”
He answered and said unto them, “Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honoureth Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.  Howbeit in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.’  For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many othjer such like things ye do.”
And he said unto them, “Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.  For Moses said, ‘Honour thy father and thy mother’; and, ‘whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death’: But ye say, ‘If a man shall say to his father or mother, :It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightiest be profited by me”; he shall be free.’  And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
                                                                                      Mark 7:1--13
Jesus said: In East and West people feel that traditions are superior to spirit of divine principles. Traditionalists ancient Hebrews enlarged their code governing offerings corban to God.  They permit a man to offer earthly goods to God instead of spiritual offerings. It is nothing but hypocrisy of observing external rites in place of divine principles.
Jesus indicted the tradition of Pharisees.  As per law, and God’s commandments, they should not cast off their parents in parents’ old age by which they should not become beggars and suffer in starvation. It is more than speak evil of old parents. This will incur death penalty. But Pharisees interfered here with this good tradition. A son can part with a part of his estate as a gift to God. By this his obligation he i.e., son is freed from his parents.
This is perversion of Corban law and amounted to not obeying fifth commandment of God. This is what Jesus has criticized. Jesus did not want the Pharisees to follow localized customs and flaunt God’s commandment.
God vibrated His law and wish through prophet Moses’ intuition: ‘Honor your parents and do not use abusive language against your biological parents. He that curse his parents, let him die the death.
These commandments given by God through Moses are recorded in Exodus 20:12 and 21:17, Leviticus 20:9, and Deuteronomy 5:16.
Parents are the physical instruments of God. They protect the child. Jesus abused the Pharisees for their law that makes them free from parental obligation which is detrimental to them.  “O ye hypocrites, you are outwardly holy and inwardly wicked. Isaiah prophesied these truths from his Cosmic vibration of God’s thoughts.  You have laid aside at your convenience the laws of God.
Hand washing before meals is not requirement of the Old Testament. It is good for sanitary reasons but the rabbis made it a mark of righteousness for others at any rate.  It was made more an etiquette than of hygienic.
Vessels were kept full of clean water ready for use  (John 2:6—8)

Follow God’s purifying laws of righteousness.  These have been revealed through saints and Gurus.  Cleanse your inner selves rather outer selves. It produces no lasting result. Of course cleanliness is Godliness. That does not mean that you will be cleaning outer self only. These rituals were made my us only. They cannot destroy our ignorance. There is only one God. Water is nothing but H2O only, whether it is Ganga water, or some other river water. To think one river water is more sacred than other river is foolishness.  Realize knowledge only destroy ignorance.

And he called the multitude, and said unto them, “Hear, and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.                                              Matthew 15:10—11
Parallel reference:
And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, “Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand: There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but things which come out of him, those are they that defile a man.  If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.”  Mark 7:14—6

Jesus said:  Your vile condition or your man made custom will not taint your inner being, God consciousness. If any man has ears, let him hear and understand. Remember, inner purity is the main thing to gauge one’s spirituality.  Outer purity is not important. Nothing from without affects you.  Always be watchful of your company and thoughts. Always your endeavor to firmly establish virtue within you. A person will be judged according to his actions, and motives.

Then came his disciples, and said unto him, “knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?”
But he answered and said, “Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”                   Matthew 15:2—14

Jesus answered indignation with indignation.  Pharisees’ obtuseness or foolishness did not make them to accept the discernment of Jesus. The plants planted by man, were/are after all weeds by and by, and they will be rooted up.  But the intuitive plants planted by God are selfless plants. A blind man cannot lead another blind man. Both will fall into a ditch.

Matthew 15:15--20

Parallel reference:
And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
And he saith unto them, :Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?” And he said, “That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within , out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:  all these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”                                        Mark 7:17—23

Jesus said: Your mind and thoughts depends upon the food you take. Your character depends upon the feelings in your heart.
The feelings of the heart (Chitta) are responsible for our entanglement in human lives.
Yoga, scientific union with God) is the neutralization of the modification of Chitta. Then the beholder (the soul) is established in its own state. i.e., the unconditioned freedom and immortal bliss inherent in the soul as a spark of God-essence.   Patanjali Yoga sutras 1:2--3
Man without understanding the karma theory,  blames God for all ills.  If his accrued karma is bad, then his feelings of the heart (Chitta) become bad, and his actions defile man’s innate nobility. His bad karma or evil thoughts are like a smoke screen of ignorance. It will hide the conscious mind from the purity and eternal joy of the soul.

Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.  And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.”  But he answered not a word.  And his disciples came and besought him, saying, “Send her away; for she cried after us.”  But he answered and said, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”                                                      Matthew 15:21—24

Jesus said: My teachings are universal and applicable to all. Jesus’ special dispensation was to counsel to Israelites. It was destined from there to spread to all. The Israelites were once virtuous. The accumulated good karma of theirs was culminated into a silent call to God. This the cause of my sending by Heavenly Father as savior. Jesus’ mission was of the world’s need and he had only he had short span of three years to establish the influence of his life and teachings. “I am sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”   This is where stage had been set for the beginning of his world ministry.
Jesus had been prophesied in the Hebrew scriptures—a Messiah, a Man of Nazareth born in Bethlehem. He was of the lineage of the Old Testament Hebraic prophets in his life as Elisha, disciple of Elijah. The doctrines of Hebrew nation –with the exception of Sanatana Vaidika Dharma of Idia—constituted the only monotheistic religious tradition espousing God as One Supreme Spirit.
Ekam Sat vipra bahudaa vadanti.  Truth is One, the wise call it by many names.  Rig Veda 1.164.46
(The Roman Empire that conquered and ruled in Israel, were polytheistic. Polytheism is belief in or worship of more than one god.  Important polytheistic religions practiced today include Taoism, Shenism, Hinduism, Japanese Shinto, Santeria, and various neopagan faiths.  The Roman and Greek Gods were often Anthropomorphic.  Animals or non-human characters are given human characteristics in Anthropomorphism.
Pagans are deeply aware of the natural world. They see the power of the divine in the ongoing cycle of life and death.  Most Pagans are eco friendly, seeking to live in a way that minimizes harm to the natural environment. Paganism a term first used in the fourth century by early Christians for people in the Roman Empire who practiced polytheism. )
For the message God had given Jesus was to give to the world, he found a perfect harmony in Hebrew prophets, India’s Advaita yoga doctrine, and Buddhist emphasis on the law of karma and divine love and compassion for all beings.
Jesus was aware that the God’s message go forth to the farthest reach. The well-indoctrinated apostles and spiritually blessed are the instruments. Some of the noteworthy divine emissaries are as follows:
Bhagavan Sri Krishna: He appeared many centuries before Jesus. He redeemed virtuous Pandavas of Mahabharat who were oppsed vice Kurus. Krishna was a poornavatar i.e., full embodiment if divinity. He gave Bhagavad Gita to the world. It is the yoga science of the soul and its path to liberation in Spirit.
Gautam Buddha: When the message of mercy needed Buddha was incarnated. He avoided priestly practices of rituals and mechanical ceremonies. He emphasized the righteous action to escape the ever rotating karmic wheel of birth and death. He gave importance of compassion to all creatures. He tells you to feel the presence of Divinity in all life.  Many animal sacrificial rites were stopped.
Nirvana was misinterpreted. The cessation of ego consciousness and its consequent reincarnation. The root cause of rebirth is ego. Overcome the material desires, liberate yourself but not extinction.
Jesus Christ:  Jesus brought the message of faith and devotion for attaining the kingdom of heaven.
Swami Sankara:  7th century A.D.  Supreme Spirit is ever-existing, ever-conscious, and ever-new bliss. The positive conception of God was the need of the hour. Overcome the material desires, then the soul will be united to the state of ever-existing, ever-conscious, and ever-new bliss.   God, Spirit, is that  ever-conscious, and ever-new bliss.  So meditate on the inner-self, the secret shrine of the blissful Infinite Spirit in man.
Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu: 12th Century A.D.  He ignited ardent love for God. His path of all-surrendering Bhakti or devotion is in fact developing personal relationship with God.
Mahavatar Babaji:  Ageless Sad Guru. He gave Kriya yoga to the world through Yogavatar Lahiri Mahasaya Maharaj. Make God contact through scientific concentration and meditation.
Lahiri Mahasya:  Religion should rise above superficial differences. Concentrate on Morality, interiorize the mind, and attune with God, the Infinite. Kriya yoga is unique and practical apart from morality and self-discipline. Kriya Yoga gives step-by-step ascension to Self-realization through successive states of Super-consciousness, Christ-Consciousness, and Cosmic Consciousness, and then ultimately merges in the Supreme Being.
The illimitable Infinite cannot be confined to any one form with its inherent limitations. Masters are distinguished qualitatively according to the number of souls they have helped to elevate to Krishna/Christhood, and quantitatively according to the number of people they inspired.
John the Baptist’s declaration, “But that he should be made manifest Israel, therefore I am come to baptizing with water”  (John1:31) confirmed that Jesus’ divine consciousness was to be revealed first to the Israelites.

                                                                                       Matthew 15:25--28
Parallel reference:
But Jesus said unto her, “Let the children be first filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.”
And she answered and said unto him, “Yes. Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.”
And he said unto her, “For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.”  And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.                       Mark 7:27—30

Jesus realized that his short service is not sufficient to serve the whole world. So he wanted to serve those people who are spiritually backward as desired by God. He felt that it is their good karma that was attracted to God.  The Greek woman was a Syrophoenician by nation. Her sincerity and faith made Jesus to heal her daughter. Jesus said: “O woman, the pulling power of your will and conviction draws the all-healing cosmic energy from me.; so let your will be fulfilled.”

And he charged them that they should tell no man: but more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published; and were beyond measure astonished, saying, “He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.”                                                  Mark 7:31—37

                                                                             Matthew 15:29—31
Jesus said: I charge my body with divine energy. I absorb your evil karma. I commanded all-healing heavenly energy to fall upon you and your brain. I send the healing vibrations to loosen up the defective auditory and speech nerves to be healed. Masters can control Physical, astral, and spiritual vibrations of their devotees.
Yogis or Sad Gurus of India use the transmission of divine power concentrated in the mouth, hands, feet, and eyes and send it to the defective part to heal. That is why the left over food of a Mahatma in India is taken as a Prasad, imbued with blessing. Jesus used the same process. That is why Jesus says, “Raca—I spit on you.

Matthew 15:32—16:4

Jesus said: O ye hypocrites, You can read the sky and say whether the weather is good or bad, but you cannot read in my life the obvious signs of the times. Jesus signified the miracles displayed by him were ample testimony of God’s approval.  He referred Jonah. He also prophesied about his coming crucifixion trial and his resurrection after three days. Jesus also visualized the misery that those wicked people have to undergo because of their bad karma and their refusal to get cleansed.
Matthew 16:5—12

Jesus said: Why do you bother about physical bread?  You have witnessed how the Divine me has fed the multitudes with a few loaves? It is the false doctrine of Pharisees and Sadducees I am warning you. I warn you about their religious dogmas customs and ignorance.

As Bethsaida rejected Jesus, He refused to heal the blind man who was brought there. Jesus felt every particle in his body was charged with Cosmic energy. He applied his divinely charged sputum by spitting on the blind man’s eyes. The blind man could see clearly.
