BIBLE – Kriya Yoga

INTRODUCTION

There is a vast difference between theory and practice. Both should go hand in hand. Vedant or philosophy can be divided into three parts. Ethics, Psychology and Metaphysics.

Ethics: the truth of Scriptural truths as applied to material life. This relates to human duty, moral laws and behaviour.

Psychology : truths as applied to mental well being.

Metaphysics: explains the nature of God and how to know Him.

These three are taken together. And putting into practice constitute religion. The moral principals prescribed in New Testament are comparable to Bhagavad Gita.

The salient message of Bible is harmonious and comparable to Gita. The words of Jesus came down in four canonical Gospels (scriptural good news or God news) of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. They were probably written between 66 AD and 110 AD. A gospel is a written documentary of career. They comprise the first four books acceptable as the authentic ones of the New Testament of Bible. They are related to Spanish (Morisco) origin, or possibly Italian. Jesus himself did not write these teachings and expressed in depth. What we have got is in the form of generalities of conversation with his disciples or discourse.

Revelation of John leads us into the profound insights of Yoga science in which Jesus initiated his disciple John and also others. Their consciousness thereby ascended to the exalted self realized stare of kingdom of God within.

A scripture is a rendition of testimony of a divine personage. In other words a divine personage is veritably a living testimony. Jesus explained his own Consciousness as “I am the son of the man, son of the Father, I and my Father are one”. “I am the way, the truth, and the life”.

The liberated soul merges into Cosmic Consciousness. And yet manifests in form to the receptive devotees. Such is the mighty power of the liberated soul. That is how Krishna, Rama and Jesus appeared and shall continue to appear to the ardent devotees like Tukaram, Tulasidas, Saint Francis and Saint Teresa etc. They are very much alive and active today. They will occasionally take flesh and blood form and unseen by ordinary masses. Powerful and wealthy churches and temples will not find them as there is no communion with God. The souls that are in true contact with Sri Rama, Sri Krishna, and Christ, shall definitely find them, day in and day out.

Babaji is in communion with Christ always. Babaji and Christ spiritually spread Kriya Yoga through us in East and West. They are helping the ardent  Kriya Yoga devotees. Caste, creed and race are no bar for learning and practicing Kriya Yoga. Babaji in consonance with the wish of Christ chose Paramahansa Yogananda to spread the message of Jesus through the techniques of Kriya Yoga. Babaji instructed in 1894 Gnan Avatar, the embodiment of wisdom, Swami Sri Yukteswar to write a comparative study of the harmony between the Christian and Hindu scriptures from the point of view of India’s Sanatan Dharma, eternal truth. Babaji wanted to send Swami Sri Yogananda to the West. He told Sri Yukteswar as such.  Babaji wanted Swami Sri Yogananda to teach original Christianity as taught by Jesus and original Yoga as taught by Sri Krishna.

For uncounted millenniums, Bharat has been the spiritual beacon. It is Bharat which has advocated divine soul science of Yoga. Yoga is the union with God, the Father. That is the reason Jesus went to Bharat during his youth. He met Babaji. They planned for the spiritual evolution of the world. Together they gave Kriya Yoga teachings and techniques to the world. Soul can reunite with God with self realization through Krishna or Christ Consciousness.

Jesus has said that He will send Holy Ghost. Holy Ghost is the sacred and invisible vibratory power of God that sustains the universe, the word, or Aum, Cosmic vibration, the Great comforter, the savior from all sorrows. Within this is the all pervading Christ, Tat, the son or Cosmic Consciousness of God immanent in creation. The method of contacting this Cosmic Vibration, the Holy Ghost, Aum, is for the first time being spread worldwide by means of meditation techniques of Kriya Yoga science. Through the blessing of communion with Holy Ghost, Aum, the limited human consciousness is expanded to receive the ocean of Christ Consciousness or Krishna Consciousness.

The adept in the practice of the science of Kriya Yoga who consciously experiences the presence of the Holy Ghost comforter, or Aum and merges in the Son, or in the immanent Christ Consciousness, or Tat, attains thereby realization of God the Father, or Sat, or Parabrahman and entry into the infinite kingdom of God. Hence practice Kriya Yoga systematically and enter into the kingdom of God.

These truths of teachings were intended to be given to mankind not to give new Christianity but to give the real Christ-teachings. How to become like Christ, how to resurrect the eternal Christ within one’s self is the purpose of these Christ-teachings.

These teachings are not whims or dogmatic emotionalism. They are not theological rationalization. One cannot interpret Bible from one’s own inclination or whim(s). One must be in tune with them. One must be in tune with Christ-consciousness. One must be in attunement with Christ in ecstasy and spirit so as to the get the Truth. One must be led by inner realization.

Discourse 1.

Divine incarnations -- God’s emissaries

 “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

--Mathew 28:20

”Father forgive them; for they know not what they do”.

These are words of Jesus before crucifixion. With these words, Jesus made an everlasting imprint on the altar of devoted souls as the incarnation of God’s loving compassion.

Crucifixion is a method of capital punishment in which the victim is tied or nailed to a large wooden beam and left to hang, perhaps for several days, until eventual death from exhaustion and asphyxiation.

Jesus was/is a Good Shepherd of souls. He has opened his arms to all. He has coaxed the world to follow him on the path to liberation. This requires spirit of sacrifice, renunciation, forgiveness, love for friend and enemy   alike,  love for sick and health alike, and above all unique attachment with God. An unparalleled courage is required in this regard. Such soul is said to be divine.

Great Guru Tegh Bahadur, is said to be such a divine, noble, and courageous soul, to cite an example. The ninth Sikh Guru, was beheaded publicly by orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb as he refused to convert to Islam. The revered Guru considered this body is trivial as such to serve the humanity and hence sacrificed his body for the sake of sufferings of humanity.

The required guidance to the noble soul shall be given by God Himself in order to be in right direction. This comes in some form or the other. The glory of Christ in the form of Jesus made visible the invisible light that leads to God. The periodic recurrence of divine incarnations is a Grand Master plan of God. It is this plan that makes it possible to the sages to their awakened soul intuition to know about the futuristic events. They prophesy in plain or veiled revelations. Of the future coming of Lord Jesus, several references in the Old Testament are cited by devout Christians and Biblical scholars.

From the book of prophet Isaiah:

The Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel (7:14)

My servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high…so shall he sprinkle many nations (52:13, 15)

All we like sheep gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.. He was taken from prison and from judgement...he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of My people was he stricken….He barethe sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors (53:6. 8, 12)

Divine intercession (Intercession or intercessory prayer is the act of praying to a deity on behalf of others) to mitigate the cosmic law of cause and effect, by which a man suffers from his errors, was the mission of love Jesus came to fulfil. Jesus came to demonstrate the forgiveness and compassion of God. Prior to Jesus Gautama Buddha came. Jesus was preceded by Buddha. His avatar or incarnation reminded people to follow the wheel of Dharma chakra, ever rotating wheel of Karma. God is not a Cosmic Dictator. Man only is responsible for his predicament. Bhagavan Sri Krishna advocated the way of God realization and divine love through the practice of supreme spiritual science of Yoga, union with God. Arid theology and mechanical rituals is of little use to the humanity.

‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.’(John 15:13). Such was the exceptional mission shouldered by Jesus. His message of the love of God and his intercession on behalf of suffering humanity was or all ages to come. He reminded a world fearful of their Creator as God of wrathful judgment that, though ‘God is Spirit and they worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.’ (John 4:24)

One should understand the magnitude of a divine Avatar. It is imperative to understand the source and nature of consciousness that is incarnate in the Avatar. Jesus proclaimed: I and my Father are one. (John 10:30), I am the Father, and the Father in me. (John 14:11).

Those who unite their consciousness to God know both the transcendent and the immanent nature of Spirit. It is ever-existing, ever-conscious, and ever-knew bliss.

The scientific evolution of cosmic creation from the Creator Lord is outlined. In arcane (esoteric) terminology, in the Old Testament book of Genesis. In the New Testament, the opening verses of Saint John’s Gospel may rightly be called Genesis. Saint John was the greatest of the disciples of Jesus. Not only in his gospel, but in his epistles and especially in the profound metaphysical experiences symbolically described in the book of Revelation, John presents the truths taught by Jesus from the point of view of inward intuitive realization. John’s gospel was last among the four in the New Testament. It is considered to be the first when the true meaning of the life and teachings of Jesus is being sought.

In the beginning was the word, and the word was with the God, and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:1 – 4)

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not....

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us(and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father,)full of grace and truth.

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, ‘This was he of whom I spake, ‘He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.’

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared Him.

--John 1:1—5, 9—I8

‘In the beginning ....’ with these words commence the cosmogonies of the Old and New Testament alike. ‘Beginning’ refers to the birth of finite creation, for in the Eternal Absolute—Spirit – there is neither beginning nor end.

The Absolute is unmanifested and cannot be described. It was the knower, the knowing, and the known. It is existing as One. It is the being, It is the cosmic consciousness, and It is the omnipotence. It is ever existing, It is ever conscious, and It is ever newly joyous Spirit. The Spirit first gave rise to a Magic Delusion, Maya, the cosmic Magical Measurer. All creation is nothing but Spirit, seemingly and temporarily diversified by Spirit’s creative vibratory activity.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:1 – 4)

'Word’ means intelligent vibration, intelligent energy, going forth from God. Before creation, there is only undifferentiated Spirit. In manifesting creation, Spirit (Parabrahman) becomes God the Father (called ‘Sat’ i.e., Transcendental intelligence by ancient Sanatana Dharma scriptures), Son (Tat), and Holy Ghost (Ohm).

God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is called Holy Trinity.

The vibratory Force that emanates from Spirit is endowed with illusory power of maya is the Holy Ghost: Cosmic vibration, the word, Aum or Amen.

All moving and unmoving things like stones, liquids, and gases, and living beings are nothing but frozen imagination of God in the Holy Ghost. This Holy Ghost is called Aum or Maha Prakriti. It is also called Great Nature or Cosmic Mother. This gives birth to creation.

The universe is not the result of happening by chance rather than intention. It is not a chance excrescence of solids, liquids, and gases into earth, oceans, atmosphere, plants, all harmoniously interrelated to provide a habitable home for human beings. The transcendent consciousness of God the Father became manifest within the Holy Ghost vibration as the son—the Christ consciousness, God’s intelligence in all vibratory creation.

Here the one Eternal becomes the Eternal Trinity or Triputy : God the Father, (husband), Son (wife, Jaganmata, tat ), and Holy Ghost (Aum). It is same as Sat, Tat, and Aum in Vedic scriptures. i.e., what Vedic scriptures say ‘Ekam Sat Vipraha bahudaa vadanti’. There is only one exists but It is described as many. It is akin there exists one Sun but its rays of light are myriad.

The light of Sun is unchanging. If we keep a blue spherical ball around Sun, the unchanging white rays around Sun appear as blue light. This is due to the reflection in the blue crystal ball. The Sun does not create the crystal ball but the introduction of Crystal ball creates the vibratory reflections or simply the vibrations. As the President of a Nation does not do any work himself as such, he appoints his deputy to foresee the work. Similarly God makes this blue ball to foresee the Universe. This blue ball is the Son, or Tat. The universe is Holy Ghost or Aum. So the Spirit, God the Father, evolved the Holy Ghost with its creative vibratory power to manifest the universal message of God.

Thus, metaphorically, soonest the cosmic bachelor Spirit contemplates to create the universe, He becomes the husband, God the Father, wedded to Cosmic virgin Mary or Cosmic Vibration, giving birth to His reflection, the only begotten Son. (My womb is Great Prakriti into which I deposit the seed; this is the cause of birth of all beings – Bhagavad Gita chapter 14-3). The Krishna/Christ consciousness, present in all specks of Creation, is the only undifferentiated, pure reflection, of the absolute, God the Father.

The Christ intelligence, the only begotten son, maintains, influential transcendence. It is not active element in creation.

The Holy Ghost, (Aum), is the distinct, active, differentiated conscious intelligence that brings into manifestation all particles of vibratory creation, which is imbued with the only begotten Son, Tat.

The inactively active Christ Consciousness or Son, or Tat, is the conscious presence of God’s intelligent divine plan in creation. Tat or son is the eternal witness of the work of Holy Ghost, or Aum. It is Holy because it acts in accordance with God’s will.

Krishna/Christ consciousness, Macrocosmically or in samishti, Universe is divided into three independent bodies. They are interdependent.

Man is the replica of Universe microcosmically or in Vyashti. They are interdependent.

These interdependent consciousnesses are called Causal or Idea, Astral, and Physical bodies microcosmically in man, and macrocosmically as such in Universe.

Spirit is individually called Soul and collectively i.e., all souls together is called Spirit. Soul/Spirit is pure and uncorrupted.

Man’s soul is covered by these three bodies viz., Causal or Idea, Astral, and Physical bodies. The causal body emits a magnetic force of light and intelligent energy. This emitted magnetic force of light and intelligent energy is called lifetrons by Paramahansa Yogananda Swami. This forms the astral body. The Astral body of lifetrons, is itself the life energy that empowers all the senses and functions of the Physical body. All of these vibratory manifestations of the macrocosm and microcosm derive from the Holy Ghost Vibration and the transcendent consciousness of God.

John summarises: ‘In him (word) was life, and the life was the light of men’(John I:4)’

The meaning of Word is vibratory sound equivalent to Veda. It carries materializing power. Ghost implies the intelligent, invisible, conscious force. Holy describes this vibration. It is the manifestation of Spirit. It is creating the universe in accordance with the perfect machination(s) of God.

The cosmic word or Holy Ghost is the intelligent creative vibration of Aum. Akara ukara makara samuktam Aum kaaram. Akaram stands for Creative vibration, Ukara stands for preservative vibration, and makara stands for power of dissolution.

The word or cosmic vibration is the origin of ‘all things’ : ‘ without him was not anything made that was made' The word existed from the very beginning of creation. The word was with God– imbued with God’s reflected intelligence, Christ Consciousness – and the word was God – vibrations of His own one Being.

Saint John’s declaration echoes an eternal truth resonating in various passages of the Vedas: The cosmic vibratory word (vak) was with God the Father (Prajapati) in the beginning of creation. Only begotten Son refers to the Christ consciousness.

John said: ‘As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.’ Jesus’s state of Christ Consciousness was the only begotten son. One could be one with the only begotten reflections of God in all matter, as was Jesus; and through the son, Christ consciousness, ascend to the Father, the supreme Cosmic Consciousness.

Sri Krishna affirms in Bhagavad Gita: among words, I am the one syllable Aum (10—25). Of all manifestations, I am the beginning, middle, and end’. (10—32). ‘I, the Unchanging and Everlasting sustain and permeate the entire Cosmos with but one fragment of My Being”. (10—42).

Sage Vyasa was the writer of Bhagavad Gita. Before the advent of Jesus, sage Vyasa is the only begotten son, Kutastha Chaitanya, Christ Consciousness, or Tat. Likewise Swami Shankara (700A.D), Mahavatar Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, Swami Sri Yukteswar, and Paramahansa Sri Yogananda. They became the Sons of God.

Yoga, divine union, is a practical way of knowing God. Yoga was invented by Rishis.

And the light shineth in darkness; the darkness comprehended it not (John 1:5)

Here darkness means delusion, ignorance. In Sanatana Sanskrit scriptures, the concepts in St. John’s esoteric verses are explained clearly. Darkness manifests in two ways: Maya and Avidya. Maya is the mass hypnosis of God. Avidya gives individuality of form.

The light that shineth in the darkness of the delusion of creation is the light of God. God is light. In the intelligent creative Cosmic Vibration that went forth from the cosmic consciousness of God were His first two expressions in manifested creation: sound (the holy Aum or Amen) and light (In the beginning...God said, ‘Let there be light’--- Genesis 1:1, 3).

Man is drunk with delusion. It obliterates his true perception. The darkness of one’s ignorance cannot apprehend the light of God vibrating everywhere. Both Maya (cosmic delusion) and individual ignorance (avidya) work together. That will obscure and confound the soul’s inherent intuitive sense of God’s omnipresence. The meditation shall remove Avidya and Maya.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world (John 1:9).

The light of Cosmic Energy is the life of all beings. In scriptural writings truths are repeated. It is necessary for moral perception and spiritual assimilation. It brings out the meaning emphatically and clearly. Yoga teaches how to join the immortals by contacting that light and realizing the unity of human consciousness with ‘true light which lighteth every man.’

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not (John 1:10).

The world refers to the entire cosmos.  The world was made by him means the whole cosmos was evolved from that cosmic light. And the world knew him not means that true light was kept hidden by delusion. This is not to be seen by sentient beings but by real, sincere, and true yogis only.

He came into his own, and his own received him not (John 1:10)

Delusion, life, and mind cannot reflect the Spirit at all. He has objectified Himself as such. God was omnipresently immanent in creation. He made all things (‘his own’) materialized from the cosmic light. This cosmic light itself is issued from His cosmic consciousness. It is His own Self. Maya is also not independent. It has to be under His subjugation. So He Himself is nothing but matter, life, and consciousness process. His own, received Him not means through the intervention of cosmic delusion, matter, life, and mind do not fully and truly reflect and express the Divine immanence.

But as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even them that believe on his name:

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:12—13).

Everyone who clarifies his consciousness to receive God’s light can be like Jesus. The light of God falls equally on everything. Carbon requires high pressure so as to become diamond.

To be a son of God like Jesus, one has to make oneself to be prepared to receive that light of God.

One should communion with his name, Holy Cosmic Vibration, the word, Aum, Amen. He has no other name. Patanjali Maharishi said: His symbol is Pranava (the holy word or sound, Aum). Chanting and meditating Aum on its meaning all obstacles are removed. Consciousness turns inwards. Yoga sutras 1:27—29.

The inner consciousness is hide bound by body. This will be removed by chanting Aum continuously. The inner consciousness expands. It will vibrate in all creation. His physical body merges into Physical cosmos, and into Astral body and into astral cosmos, and then into Causal body or causal cosmos. His continuous chanting makes his consciousness stable in all vibratory creation. He becomes Krishna/Christ like and thus Jesus felt like the Universe expressed in his body and taught his disciples to do likewise so that they can also feel similarly and get into beatitude or bliss which is unparallel.

The Cosmic Consciousness (God the Father) existing transcendentally beyond all vibratory (Holy Ghost) creation and the Christ Consciousness (Universal intelligence, Kutastha Chaitanya) in all vibratory manifestation are realized as one and the same. After chanting Aum/Amen continuously the meditating man/sadhak gets into vibration less or still state. This still state or vibration less state is known as Son of the Father or tat state. Jesus reached this Son of the Father or tat state after which Jesus declared, I, Christ/Krishna consciousness in Creation, and my Father, Christ/Krishna consciousness in Creation beyond Creation, are one and the same. It is something like man/woman in office and in home are one and the same.

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the ill of man, but of God.

Everybody is a son of the man with physical body. This comes out of another human body of flesh and blood, human will and sexual union, born of protoplasm and bloodline of family or racial heredity. But the son of God, the inherent divine consciousness of man, or the soul. It is not born of man’s will or flesh or sex or family blood or pedigree. It is born of God. In fact, all human beings, are sons of God, made in His image.

To receive Christ is not accomplished through church membership. It cannot be obtained by outer rituals like acknowledging Jesus as one’s saviour. In reality one must contact him in meditation.

And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the Father.) full of grace and truth (John 1:14)

The word is Aum or Amen is the creative energy. It is the sound of Cosmic vibration. This vibratory energy producing cosmic sound is condensed into matter. Professor Jagadish Chandra Bose stated that even a piece of tin responds to stimuli. The soul lives within the body. It comes within the spell of Maya, the self, the pseudo soul. It identifies itself with its physical and mental experiences, forgets its divine nature and masquerades as body circumscribed ego. Scientific Yoga techniques of meditation enable the soul to regain the memory of its oneness with the omniscient, omnipresent spirit.

The consciousness of the Prophet John the Baptist was in tune with the Universal Christ intelligence. He witnessed or declared from his own intuitive realization the glory of Christ Consciousness. This has manifested in the omnipresence of the Holy Ghost creative Light. In divine consciousness, John saw the incarnate Jesus. Jesus came to fulfil a special dispensation.

And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:16 – 17).

And of his fullness means omnipresent Christ Consciousness can be received by pure minds. And grace for grace means for every goodness in man, he receives from the eternal goodness of God. But who are sons of God receive and reflect the fullness of the Divine Presence. In the sons of God, the fullness of Spirit is reflected equally and in all souls. And grace for grace: Each time, man practices goodness, he receives a special measure of God’s grace.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ: This statement of Saint John’s merely recognizes Moses’ gift from God to man in the form of the Ten Commandments. God is not a dictator and man is not His servile attendant. These dictums should be regarded as code of natural righteousness. Man should follow these laws lest he falls out of tune with God. He falls into delusive suffering of his own making.

but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ: all truth, the power behind all Universal laws, flows for the Christ Consciousness. This power was manifested in Jesus.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten son, which is in the bottom of the Father, he hath declared Him (John 1:18)

No mortal bound by senses can see God except by lifting his consciousness to Christ Consciousness. No man can see God with his naked eye. It is the Christ intelligence in the creation that can manifest the invisible God the Father transcendent beyond creation. The consciousness is impregnated with Christ intelligence that is present everywhere. The nature of Christ magnetism is the expression of God’s love.

Krishna and Jesus Christ are the great avatars of East and West. Krishna’s love gave to the world the yoga of liberation from the sea of suffering through scientific meditation and right action. The paramount meaning of the birth of Jesus is the forgiveness of God. Jesus the Christ was born to declare the hidden love of God.
